Letter to Bishop-elect Medel Aseo

Dear Bishop-Elect Medel Aseo,

It is with gladness in my heart that I write to you to congratulate you on behalf of the National Association of Filipino Priests, USA on your appointment as the Bishop of Tagum.

Your appointment and the strong support for you to take this role, represents an important new phase in the history of the Church in Tagum. Your appointment comes at a pivotal time, as our church seeks ways forward in light of numerous challenges towards holiness.

Shortly after the announcement of your appointment, Pope Francis released his latest apostolic exhortation that I believe is an excellent clarion call as you begin your new ministry. We need ‘to acknowledge jubilantly that our life is essentially a gift, and recognize that our freedom is a grace. This is not easy today, in a world that thinks it can keep something for itself, the fruits of its own creativity or freedom’ ” (§5 Gaudete et Exsultate).

On behalf of the National Association of Filipino Priests, USA, I offer my encouragement and support to your leadership, and know that you see in these dynamics the potential for a transformative gospel witness.

I know that with your skills in community-building and collaboration, you will have much to offer to the church and society as a whole. As you embrace your vocation to be the shepherd of your diocese, I assure you of the eagerness of the National Association of Filipino Priests, USA to support you in your new role especially through our prayers.

With every good wish for God’s blessings,

Rev. Virgilio Tolentino

(NAFP-USA President)

3rd NAFP Souvenir Program Sponsorship

February 1, 2017

Dear Friends in Christ:

The Third National Assembly of Filipino Priests in the USA will be held on November 7-10, 2017 at the Royal Sonesta Hotel in Houston, Texas. This event provides a venue for more or less eight hundred (800) priests of Filipino heritage serving the Church in the United States to come together again for another wonderful experience of fraternity and fellowship to promote unity and solidarity, to offer a rich program and various activities for spiritual enrichment and on-going pastoral formation as well as opportunities for witnessing, sharing and renewing priestly vocation so we become more effective ministers of evangelization.

I, together with the Filipino Priests and the Filipino Ministry Council of The Archdiocese of Galveston-Houston, invite you to be a part of this worthwhile endeavor. On behalf of my brother Filipino priests, I solicit your generous support to sponsor their participation and help us defray the expenses of this assembly. Your prayers and financial contributions are indicative of your appreciation and gratitude to our Filipino priests.

To commemorate this grand assembly and as a memento for this occasion, a Souvenir Program will be published. We would like to solicit your help and prayerfully consider becoming a sponsor by placing an ad in the Souvenir Program. Please refer to the attached Souvenir Program Solicitation Form.

Grateful for your support of our Filipino priests and with prayerful wishes of God’s blessings, I remain.

Sincerely yours in Christ,
